Capita Financial Group (CFG) has installed a Category 6 LAN infrastructure into their newly acquired building at City West, Leeds. The PowerCat 6™ solution was supplied by Molex and installed by London based, Molex Certified Installers, ITC Connects Limited.
Capita Financial Group – Company Overview
Capita Financial Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of The Capita Group Plc, a FTSE 100 company and the leading provider of outsourcing services in the UK. Since the company’s formation in 1984 it now employs over 26,000 staff working across a network of business centres in the UK, Channel Islands, Ireland and India.
Following internal restructuring, Capita Financial Group decided to relocate staff from their and staff relocations from their Huddersfield offices to newly built premises at City West Business Park in Leeds. These new ‘flagship’ offices were selected to introduce Capita Financial Group as a professional industry leading organisation, to both existing and potential clients. Keith Marsden, Chief Executive of Capita Financial Group says: “Our UK business has grown by 40% over the last five years and it is anticipated that this rate of growth will continue. Our move to the premises in Leeds allows us to base the majority of our UK operations team in one office, which not only gives us the scale of operation to support the expansion of our own business, but allows us to further enhance our consistency of service to our clients.”
The Installation Partner
ITC Connects is a London based installer of Network LAN Infrastructure and has been a Certified Installer for Molex for over 12 years. David Bonney, Director, ITC Connects comments: “We have an excellent working relationship with Molex and particularly their Technical Services department who are always on hand to offer training and refresher courses for existing and new employees as well as providing technical updates. Being a Molex accredited installer is a key distinction in our field and emphasises our professionalism and expert approach in designing, delivering and supporting structured cabling systems”.
AWarranted Solution
ITC Connects specified a Molex Category 6 solution for CFG based on the Senior Infrastructure Delivery Manager at CFG, Rob Delaney’s specifications. During the initial design process, Delaney stated: “We require a high-end network solution from a good quality product that needs to be competitively priced and resilient to our needs in the long term”. Crucially, Capita wanted a solution to meet their needs for the duration of their stay in their new offices. Capita now have a network solution that is backed by a recognised industry warranty, the Molex 25-year System Performance and Application Assurance Warranty, even should the standard for Category 6 change in the future. Bonney highlights: “Implementing the Molex solution covers future-proofing as the customer requested and a network infrastructure that could be relied upon to provide the required bandwidth to support a variety of applications, both now and for the future”.
The installation consisted of 528 Category 6 UTP LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) infrastructure cables installed from two communications cabinets situated in the Computer room. A total of 48 Category 6 UTP LSZH inter cabinet link cables ran from the primary cabinet with 24 cables going to each one of the remote server cabinets.
Conclusion
Molex and ITC Connects are still working closely with Capita Financial Group and following other successful deployments of Molex cabling systems at Capita’s offices in London, Redhill, Reading, Gloucester, Sittingbourne and Colchester, ITC Connects are happy to continue rolling out Molex solutions throughout the rest of Capita’s UK network.
